Vegy lunch

Lunch at The Social on Cheltenham Road in Bristol proved to be an unusual, but tasty experience.  Priding itself as being an independent bar and cafe, The Social provides comfy sofas, free papers and a laid back atmosphere.
Feeling experimental I went for the salt baked beetroot with chicory and goats cheese
Goats cheese
The dish came with an attractive carrot salad and orange sauce.  The goats cheese was oozing and smooth with a mellow silky taste, not cloying as goats cheese can sometimes be. The beetroot was tart and salty, but not overpowering.  It went perfectly with the cheese.  The chicory was also cooked well and tasted good with the salad, however when eaten with the cheese it somehow highlighted the bitterness of the leaves a tad too much.  Overall, the dish was fresh and tasty, a good start to the weekend!
